Hi, I am Bill Cohen, Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)®, with Cohen Caregiving Support Consultants LLC in Portland. Originally from New England, I have lived in Oregon for over 30 years with my wife, Lori, and various furballs.

I've been a manager, financial advisor, compliance inspector, mentor, and volunteer. Customer service and helping people have been the common thread throughout for life's milestones, even delivering memorable weddings!

Not all of life's events are so joyous. My beautiful and loving mother, Sheila, lost her home due to Hurricane Katrina. Then, her health, ability to create art and, ultimately, her life were destroyed by Alzheimer's disease. I was her primary caregiver.

Now I am a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® and provide Alzheimer's support and caregiving advice in the Portland/ Vancouver and Salem areas and beyond. I help you handle and manage the caregiving journey with your care partners living with dementia. I speak to organizations and meetings, and facilitate caregiving support groups, in person or virtually.

I also lead Team Sheila for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, and am a volunteer and advocate for a cure for Alzheimer's disease.

When you think of another caregiver or yourself, what feelings come to mind? Overwhelmed? Exhausted? Hopelessness? Loneliness? Don't know where to get help or support?

Imagine if you, or someone you know who is a caregiver, could know in advance how to plan for and what to expect on your caregiving journey with your loved one. And, if you could have someone there with you who has experienced everything you are or will be going through.

Envision if someone could help you minimize the stress, time, and costs of caregiving.

I do that for and with you.

Since I experienced first-hand all the issues and stages with my late mother, and know what a caregiver endures, I am a navigator for unpaid, family caregivers like you, or your clients. I provide guidance, support, resources, and referrals to trustworthy service providers. Using a wraparound approach, I coordinate and collaborate with your care partner's support team to save you time, money, and stress.

I can assist you on a wide range of issues,  including:

   solutions and resources

· Save you time and funds by

Finding Alzheimer's support is almost as challenging as caregiving itself. Most family caregivers whose loved one has a diagnosis or the first signs of dementia are unaware of the resources, service providers, and options available to them. They may also be wary of working with unknown advisors or professionals, even with apparent credentials and recommendations.

I do the vetting and research for you. I will refer trustworthy, reliable service providers to you and your care partner. This saves you time and money, and relieves you of the stress of looking around and calling random listings online or in a directory.  You can rest assured that you will be working with someone looking out for you and your family's best interests.

And, by coordinating and collaborating with your team of providers, particularly regarding Alzheimer's and other dementia, you will feel more confident that you are caring for your loved one as best as possible throughout a difficult, emotional situation.

To sum up, I provide Alzheimer's support and am a nurturing guide for family caregivers like you, or your clients. I help you cope with the "long goodbye" on your journey with your care partner, whether it is your spouse, parent, sibling, or close friend.

My primary areas of advising are in the greater Portland, Vancouver and Salem areas. I can also support families in other areas.

...He’s been prompt, supportive, and follows through on his commitments. The people he put me in touch with have been excellent—from a person to drive my mom to appointments to a professional companion who spends time with her on days I’m not able to. Everyone has been top-notch. I highly recommend Bill if you or a loved one are dealing with dementia and needs support and resources.
